New ride pics

Well, I picked up this cabriolet after selling my '87 n/a, and drove it home about 40 miles with the top down, my first convertible and that was a nice ride, but I'm not sure i'm going to keep it yet, it needs a little work and this is not the best time of year for a ragtop. I am excited about it tho, I'll be asking for help one way or the other.

I think you should keep it! You don't see too many of those around, or at least not in my neck of the woods.
Great color and the body looks very straight.

What are some of the issues?

thanks all for the kind words.
TibetanT, there are a few issues and i'm not sure i know all of them yet.
It's starts kinda hard and noisy, very sorta rough sounding, but after it starts it idles smooth and quiet.

There is a very noticeable vibration at about 2000, 3,000 and especially 4,000 rpm's.

There is some kinda aftermarket security system w/ a keypad on the center console, hasn't caused any probs but I'm afraid to touch it. It needs tires all around.

The shocks feel kinda soft to me, compared to my '89 S2 coupe anyway.

The top only works manually, I guess the p/o diconnected the motor and mechanisms, I haven't really looked into it yet.

The front end felt a little drifty to me on the ride home, but that might be the tires or the sway bar bushing that was shot, ( I replaced that this weekend but haven't driven it since).

Of course there's a lot more good stuff about it, the engine and tranny seem good besides the vibration, the body is good (not flawless), but mostly just that it's a '91 cab, i do like that.

Balance shafts out of time? ...or maybe engine mounts.

Starting hard and noisy....that may be fuel rail or fuel injectors not being pressurized at startup. And, I agree about the balance shaft belts needing a check with regard to the vibration. Best guess right now. Hopefully, you will be able to take a peek at everything soon to tell and give her a tune-up. I think you made a good purchase.

Got some nice Koni's for the rear that will work for that.

I hope you get a couple more warmer days before she goes to bed for the Winter too.

The cabriolet supensions are softer than the coupes because the shells aren't as stiff.

Clark???
Thx for all the input, good to know about the shocks. I'd like to think i would get to it before winter, but I don't really see it happening until spring. What or how can I check on the fuel rail/ injectors.
Also the pics look better than the paint actually is, there are some scuff marks and a few small dents (the kind that can be banged out I think). But from 15-20 feet she is pretty nice looking.
