anyone know how to revive dead Porsche batt, (open cell) the batt is almost new but was drained and now won't even take a charge, the cells are all full with fluid to the specified level.

Unfortunately, lead-acid batteries are not very forgiving. Automotive batteries are classified as "starting batteries" meaning they provide great current for short starting bursts. However, they do not appreciate "deep-discharge" situations.
You might try putting it on a battery charger that has a "de-sulfating" cycle. The charger applies high frequency pulses to the battery that fractures the sulfate crystals that form on the plates. From past experience though I would give it a 50/50 chance. -Nick

Darn, it sucks 'cause it's so new, but I think instead of investing in another charger (I already have a regular one) I'll bite the bullet and buy a new batt. Thx

Had the same problem on my Mercedes E320 which i just took out of storage to use this winter. My father put in a new battery two years ago, then put the car in storage but neglected to disconnect it. Car sat over a year and the battery was stone dead. I left it on a charger for about 6 hours and it will not hold any charge. Way too far gone.

Funny, I had the same trouble w/ "new" old Interstate battey from the '86 I'm parting out, I thought it would be good to have as a spare if it charged up. Friday I took it to the local parts store where they charge for free, w/ some trick @ss charger that charges and tests in 10 minutes, it kept saying "connect cables" or "connection trouble" - wouldn't even try to charge...
I thought about dropping it on the ground from a couple inches up a few times and trying again, at least their charger has a locking cabinet in case one goes "kaboom"

Yeah, that sucks. I have a new battery for a 944 you could have, but the shipping charges would probably be more or close to the cost of you just buying a new one.
