Rebuilt & Resealed Throttle Body

So I got the kit and rebuilt and resealed the Throttle Body on my 944-85.5. Now though the new seals are so tight that the normal return springs will not return the throttle body/butterfly Pl to closed position (well after a second or so it finally closes). Is this normal? So what can be done with it to make it free-up so as to return/close correctly.

I have poly bushings and use non petroleum grease on them (food equipment grade grease) - would this work - OR???

A much stiffer return spring might make the throttle pedal much to stiff??

What to do - lost on this one...

you might be getting what's happening to you from the adjustment of your TPS being slightly off

at least on an "S" throttle body that's what can happen

The Throttle Position sensor is not on it yet. Just seems like the o'rings are tight for sealing it up but they are not letting it be quick with the movements because of their tight rubber drag.

I rebuilt the one on my previous '84 NA a couple of years ago using the Arnnworx kit and it came out perfect. I'm assuming you greased the o-rings like specified before you re-assembled, so the only other thing I can think of is that the throttle plate is not centered correctly and it is hanging up on the bore of the throttle body. Check to see that you have an even gap between the edges of the throttle plate and the bore throughout the entire operating stroke, and make sure it doesn't hang up before you reach the throttle stop in the closed position. You may need to loosen up the 2 flat head screws (or remove & replace if staked), and re-positon the throttle plate on the shaft until it is located properly. IIRC, it has to be perfectly centered to operate correctly.

Oops there is the hang-up. In the rebuild kit I used it did not mention anything about the grease part - So I think I will take it apart again and grease all seals/o'rings. I do have some non-petroleum grease handy to use.

Yep wondered if that could be the problem from the start - I will grease it up real good and hopefully that is the problem...

Thanks
