Weird sound from rear
 

A few weeks ago I spun my car out, ended up curbing it.

****ed up my rims but there seemed to be no real damage beyond that.

I jacked it up and thoroughly inspected the tie rods, the brake lines, wheel bearings, I looked at the cv axle but I didn't really know how to tell if anything was wrong and then put a different set of wheels/tires on it.

Anyhow I had my mechanic friend just briefly look at things, and we drove it around a bit and everything seemed tip top. Weirdly, it wasn't even out of alignment (noticeably).

Fast forward to today, I'm noticing a weird slow "wobbling" sound from the rear (I think) passenger side of the car. The car still drives absolutely perfectly, but at low speeds I can hear a gentle slow thump from the rear. It either goes away or road noise overtakes it as I speed up, I'm not sure which - but I can't really hear it outside of parking lots.

I checked and the tire seems securely mounted, nothing loose. I double checked that the lug nuts were all torqued down. I have taken those lugs nuts off and put them back on probably 10 times now. Is it possible they just aren't torquing down like they used to?

bushing inside the suspention might be trashed..

It's almost certain not to be this, but have you tried leaving your door open while slamming the hatch? In mine, both pins don't always latch, especially if I try to close the hatch with the windows and sunroof closed, since the cabin air pressure is too great to allow them both to engage. I get a strange, nearly untraceable noise 'from the back' until I get out and slam it.

Likely not what it is in your case, but worth a shot, anyway.

It may be a wheel bearing... Time will tell if you've damaged it...

i would look carefully at the tire - very possible you goose-egged it or popped a cord
