race wiring harness for early 944

I've been a long-time lurker and I appreciate the info that I've picked up so far whilst sitting back. I hope to be able to contribute some back once I have some experience built up

I have an 83 '44 that I am stripping for DE and Autox. I won't be racing competitively (just fun-run weekends and such), so I am not worried about the stock/class rules.

Mechanically, the car is solid, and I've replaced the timing belt & water pump recently. There is an electronics leak that I've traced back to the factory alarm system.

I don't plan on keeping the stock dash or interior, so moving things around is not a problem. In a perfect world, I'd run clean wire everywhere and keep it as simple as possible, which means eliminating crap like the alarm module. If this isn't something people want to explain in the open, then can one of you PM me with info on doing this?

Thanks!

I've clipped several no-longer used wires on my 944 race car, but have left the majority of the wiring harness stock. That way the factory wiring diagrams still help, and as far as weight reduction, there are far more useful things to do than loose a few ounces of wire. My original dash is still in place.

I guess I just need to see someone's race wiring job up close to figure out what I can safely clip. I narrowed my electrical drain down to the factory alarm module and was able to successfully bypass it using the clarks garage article. My next step was to try using the same article to permanently remove the module. It felt kinda hackish, so I'd rather know if there's a slimmed down harness I can buy.

I'll let you know how successful I was with my wire modifications. I cut EVERYTHING out that is not required to run the car. It's a late car so it will be a little bit different, but same idea. I'm just hoping I didn't clip anything important. I did loose about 15lbs of wire though.

I also clipped a lot out from the AC/power window/radio wiring. The AC/heater/console wiring I found to be rather extenuous. I, also, have not reinstalled the engine and testfired. I'll post with my results whenever that happens.
