Rear fan ON

A few weeks ago I asked here if anybody elses rear fan was still running
well after the car had been parked up as mine has apparently just begun doing this, it appears from the replies I've had that some do & some don't

Today a new development:
just went out to a cold car to try a CD in player I switched on the ignition and this set the fan blowing, and the motors not run for hours.

Would I be on the right track if I thought the plug-in heating sensor is on its way out, and telling the fan to cool an already cold engine

The radiator thermostat operates irregardless of whether the key is on or not. A/C fan relays are key on operable.

As I say it has been 'running on' for 15 minutes or so
apparently cooling a not very hot engine. I went out to change a CD yesterday on the drive and switched its key to 'ON' which prompted another 15mins far.

However I used the car this morning for an hour,
came back and everything shuts down off the key (as it almost always has)

where might I look for something at fault first.

Never knew there was a rear fan. Is your engine on the wrong end of the car?

Fair enough. I think you may be in the wrong forum. The 944's don't have rear fans. If it is a fan problem, and the rear one being on is a typo in the thread title and in the body of the post, then I'd say that the thermofan switch is bad.

so, are you talking about a 1991 C2, or a 944 of some stripe, because i don't see a 944 listed in your signature.

so why don't you help us out and tell us exactly which fan is running on what car.

Wrong forum.
He is talking about the rear electric blower on a 964 for additional engine cooling after the engine is turned off.
This needs to be moved to the 964/993 forum.
