Rear caliper sliders

One of my rear brakes was squeaking, but the pads were fine. I pulled the caliper off and seperated the 2 parts of the floating caliper. Looks like it was hanging up and not sliding/floating, not sure if it was from the rust and grime or because the little nylon sliders are worn out.

Anyone know how far above the metal they're supposed to stick up? Or if they are really necessary at all if I grease it up good?

Also, can replacements be bought? All I found is the whole caliper kit here on Pelican, but all I need is whats circled.

I believe mine didnt' stick up any further than the metal. They were flush, if I remember.

You can clean up the rust with careful use of a file, the nylon or teflon pieces should be included with a rebuild kit, they should stick up slightly above the casting.
Good Luck

I did the clean up with a wire brush, file, sandpaper.
I know the sliders come with the rebuild kit, I don't need the whole $22 per wheel kit. I just wanted to know if the sliders can be bought seperatly.
Thanks.

I have never seen them separately. But while you have it all apart, why not rebuild the entire calipers?

Pistons worked fine, no leaks and plenty of pressure. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Plus, I had to get it done asap, couldn't wait to order a kit. So I just cleaned em up, lubed the sliders and reassembled, back on the road and working great now.

We'll see how long it lasts though.
