968 Radio Removal

I have the factory Porsche CD-2 radio. I believe it's made by Alpine, not that it matters. I removed the faceplate surround, and expected to see a couple of hole that I could stick a stiff wire in to release the radio, but nooooooooooooooooo! I have these two little things on the sides that have a part that slides up and down. These appear useless as I've played with them more than my.......................

I want to send this radio in and have it rebuilt so I can stay completely original, but first I need to remove it with out busting everything up. OK guys, what's the secret?

Alrighty. 54 reads and no thoughts on this,,,,and I ain't gonna buy a set of tools when I only need one, one time. Sooooo, I'm thinking I can drive to a car stereo shop and they can get it out. 5-10 bucks is a deal right about now.

There are two types of tool sets for 968 radio removal.

1) the PIN setup
2) The pointed wedge

I have both. I can't recall which one i used for my CD2. I can take a photo of them if you like?

Don't worry about it Jeff. As I said, I'll just get down to an installer and have them remove it.
