Nicked my front hub !!!

I was driving in my front bearing race into the hub, put a bit of a gouge where the oil seal ring sits. Is it a big deal .....crap I hope not , any thoughts if so, any used hubs out there for sale. Freezing the race and heating the hub to 350 F..... did'nt drop into the hub like clarks garage promised.

Depending on how bad the gouge is just smooth some JB Weld into the area and sand it smooth with fine emery paper. At least it wasn't on a bearing contact surface.

If you do need a to get a used hub, call George B and he will be able to get you one. 944ecology.com

We really need a photo to determine how bad it is.

Next time take the old race and grind the outside enough so it drops down into the hole without resistance. Then use it to drive in the new race. Put it in your tool box when done.

Literally did (watched) this same project four days ago.

No need to "drive" anything in. Heated the hub to ~210 degrees with a propane torch, the races literally drop right in. Used a race tool to ever so slightly tap it down square.

It's been said numerous times, for this project heat is your friend for both getting the old ones out and new ones in.
