Clutch Order for Sachs Kit

Hello Folks,
We have been working on replacing the clutch system on my early 1983 Porsche 944 and have (again) run into another snag. I bought a Sachs Clutch Kit, but it did not include a installation diagram.
I was wondering if I have the correct component order and then how many .020 spacers to use.
I have included a pic of what I believe to be the correct order, but I am still questioning how many of the .020" spacers to use.
I clipped in one .020" spacer and it seemed to be way too loose, but I tried clipping in two of the .020" spacers and I can't seem to get the ring clip to snap in.
Has any one here used this type of Sachs Kit on an early Porsche 944? If so, then how many .020" spacers did it take?
Any help is much appreciated!
Thank You, Mike

In www.Clarks-Garage.com the clutch replacement procedure gives this information about the spacers:

Install a new release bearing on the pressure plate. You may need the snap ring from the old release bearing if the new bearing does not come with one. Install spacer(s) onto the release bearing. Insert the bearing into the opening on the pressure plate. While holding the bearing in place, lay the pressure plate on a flat surface with the pressure plate friction surface facing up. Press down on the sides of the pressure plate to compress the pressure plate fingers. This will allow enough clearance to install the snap ring onto the release bearing. The number of spacers installed should not prevent the snap ring from being installed. Also, once the bearing is installed and the snap ring is in place, there should be a small amount of movement between the release bearing and the pressure plate.

FWIW I used all that came with the new kit.

Still Way Confused

O.K. According to these instructions, the order would be:

1 (release bearing)

2 (cutout molded spacer) - I accidently labeled this "cutout molded bearing" - NOT MENTIONED IN INSTRUCTIONS

3 (.020" spacers) One?? Two?? ALL???

4 (pressure plate)

5 (.121" spacer ring with ringclip groove) - NOT MENTIONED IN INSTRUCTIONS

6 (ring clip)

I don't know about this. I thought release bearings actually contacted the teeth of the pressure plate. Am I missing something here or just reading this the wrong way?
Please help a very confused man....
Thanks, Mike

For some reason the kits dont include the thurst bearing. Pretty cheap too. Dont know why they dont include them.

I had the same issue recently http://forums.tipec.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=944
Used 2 spacers and it worked well.
I also cut the bell housing so The speed/ref sensors stay bolted to the block in future.
Also rear main seal and spigot bearing are important and not too tricky when your in there.
I used the old seal to knock the new one in.

Question: I am in the process of installing a new clutch and pressure plate on my 85.5. I followed the advice here and managed to squeeze two shims under the flat washer and install the snap ring. However, when I spun the release bearing it made a scraping sound so I took one shim out. Now I bolted the pressure plate to the flywheel on the car and the fingers of the pressure plate are flattened so the release bearing can float around some. Is this normal or should I take it apart and put the second shim back in there?

Thanks - Rob

Bump-

If in doubt, I would suggest to use as many washers as you took out.

I looked in the WSM and did not find any definative answer.

Thank you John.

I checked and the old release bearing did not have any shims underneath the thick snap ring retainer/washer. I think I will leave 'as-is' with one shim in place.
