944/951/968 1/2 Shafts???

Are all the axles the same length? Do they all use the same cv's?

Thanks-

No pre and post 85.5 cars are different. I had an issue with this as a well known suplier had them incorrectly listed. This eventially resulted in them getting em brand new ones as they could not obtain the rebuilds. If I remember the two length are 16" and 22 inches . I also think that the AT cars use one that is different as well,

The half shafts are different lenghts but all 4 CV joints are the same. I had a vibration on hard acceleration so I swapped my CV joints around from the drive side to reverse side - vibration gone (just call me tight arse).

Specifically, the length of the half shafts is related to the construction of the trailing arms. Up through 1985, they had steel trailing arms with shorter half shafts. With the introduction of the alu trailing arms in late 85/early 86, the half shafts needed to be about 6" longer. The 968 is a bit trickier, as it appears to me that in 1993, Porsche reverted to the earlier 944-based steel trailing arms, at least based on part numbers. I am by no means a 968 expert, just basing this on some related research I've done on the rear suspension components:

From PET:
944 1983-1985.5
Trailing arm 944.331.021.01 & 944.331.022.01 (steel)

924S
Trailing arm 951.331.021.01 & 951.331.022.01 (alu)

944/951 1985.5-1986:
Trailing arm 951.331.021.01 & 951.331.022.01 (alu)

944/951 87-onward M030
Trailing arm 951.331.021.31 & 951.331.022.31 (alu)

944/951 87-onward M030/593
Trailing arm 951.331.021.32 & 951.331.022.32 (alu)

968 Thru model year 1992
Trailing arm 951.331.021.31 & 951.331.022.31 (alu)

968 93-onward
Trailing arm 944.331.021.01 & 944.331.022.01 (steel ?!?!?)
