exhaust stud

when pulling my header off the head one of the studs unscrewed. the machine shop didn't fix it either.
when i looked on PP they have the later style ones,
any ideas where i can get one for my early cat, should i go used? and is JB weld good for sealing it in the head?

I would think the head gets too hot for JB weld. I may be wrong but that sounds like a very bad idea.

Not exactly sure what your problem is.......I am assuming one of the exhaust studs screwed out of the head while removing the headers. Simply screw it back in. If the threads in the head are stripped you can install a helicoil or find a slightly bigger stud and drill and tap the head to fit the new stud.

To securely screw the stud in, put 2 nuts on one end of the stud and tighten the top nut onto the lower nut while holding the lower nut tight with a wrench. Use the top nut like a bolt top when installing onto the head. Hold the bottom nut with a wrench and loosen the top nut to remove.

Sometimes the manifold won't come off (clear the stuff in the surrounding area) with all the studs remaining in the head anyway, so sometimes it is good that they unscrew...

I think I have spare studs (used) if you need one.
