Unhappy Cold weather idle/ running temp

Hi all! I'm having some problems with my 944. Trying to figure her out. Two months ago I replaced the ICV because it was loping from 700 to 1800 rpms. That fixed that problem but seems to have created a new one. The car idled at 950 for two days then decided that 1200 was a better idle for it. New intake gaskets and vacuum lines still have fixed it. With that said, she is also running right near 3/4 on the temp gauge even at 12 Degrees F outside. Maybe a new thermostat is in store! Thanks for any help!

You might want to make sure that your problem isn't the guage. Bad grounds can cause the guage to read higher than it should (mine does this), particularly when there is a lot of load on the electrical system (like when the headlights are on). I seem to remember reading there are some screws that can be tightened to fix some guage problems as well.

The gauge doesn't fluctuate with any kind of electronic load. I replaced the cluster a gew months ago because of issues with the odometer. I check it out tomorrow though. Thanks!

if the temp gueage is at 3/4, thats okay, but if your running at higher than the 3/4 mark, then thats time to start worrying about things. I think the norm. is the 1/4-3/4 mark from what I have read in the past. Have you flushed the cooling system in the recent past? Maybee a por running water pump? When I bought my '84, my temp was running at the 5/8 mark (hovering in the middle of 1/2 and 3/4 mark), then I flushed the cooling syatem and got a whole bunch of crap out( sand?, black stuff, some rocks, and even a few pine needles?) and after that the temp. guage has been at about the 1/2 mark. I ahve a bad thermo switch, I think, and have to run the fans when the temp gets higher up, usually at about the 3/4 mark.
Born2Bwild- you should have a link of pics to the buggy. The 924S, the cold air intake is stock on these cars (the black air filter box and hose to the D side wheel araea, or is it something that you put in?

Let's go FLYERS!!

I'm going to flush it next weekend since I have a new thermostat on order. Any ideas on the high idle? I have a feeling the ice I got is bad. It idles low when cold and high when hot. Thanks for the help so far.
