New clucth master bleeding issue.

In a nutshell, I get no fluid at the slave.

Before the replacement the system was working fine, but under the dash was puking fluid like a freshman at a frat party. So I've replaced the master, added fluid, opened the bleeder at the slave, applied pressure at the reservoir, while having the woman eased the pedal up and down. No fluid nor air from the bleeder.

I also tried using suction at the bleeder to pull it through. No fluid or air.

In both cases I can build a moderate amount of pressure or suction, but I've yet to get any fluid out of the slave.

I've even completely removed the bleeder.

Has anyone ever encountered a clogged bleeder passage?

trying to do it by hand like that will take hours to get fluid down, I gave up and got a Power bleeder and took about 10 minutes to get it done.

forget about manual bleeding - forget about vacuum devices (they almost never work well) - i have only three words for how to do this:

motive power bleeder

agree with using the motive bleeder. disconnect the line at the top of the slave and see if fluid is passing through the line.. I would just take the slave out and check it on the bench. I usually replace master and slave at same time anyway.. Oh yeah and jack the back of the vehicle up higher than the front and make sure to check that fluid level in the resevoir.

Take out the bleeder and very gently push/twist a very small drill bit down into the opening and see if that clears it. The bleeder on mine was plugged and needed help.

Yep, it was clogged alright. Once I clear that, a bunch old dirty fluid came out. I used my Mighty-Vac to pull fluid through until clear. Bled as usual and it works like a champ.

The m/c was the original date cast in FAG, so I suspect that I'll be looking at a new slave soon. Amazing though that it lasted 23 years and 140xxx miles.

That slave unit is going to go anytime soon ,whit all that dirt coming out from the bleeder.
You will find that the clutch pedal is going to drop to the floor. While you are driving or just leaning your foot on the pedal and it will drop to the floor
Good Luck

I know it's possible that it could go at any time, but I've limped cars (mostly British ) home without clutches before.

I guess I'm kind of a carmasochist - using this definition:

A willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences.

I love that definition, it fits me also. I guess it satisfies a certain need for adventure, little as it may be.

Schadenfreude.

This worked well for me and didn't need the power bleeder.
