Cruise control help please

My cruise control does not seem to do anything. I have checked what mechanical linkage I can see and it appears to be intact. Anyone know what kind of signal under what condition I should be getting to the servo. Used parts seem to be fairly inexpensive. Should I start changing parts (yuk-o). Computer or servo first. Oh, where is the computer located?

Thanks

Garage
Computer should be under the driver side dash just forward of the door. As to where to start, I'm still trying to figure that myself. Mine does "engage", but bucks like a wild horse. I'll probably start with the servo first. Check clarks garage; he's got a lot of info to help.
