In a Porsche again!

Well, I did buy the local '84 944 I was looking at, and so far the car is great! It's silver with matching cookie cutters, with brown/tan interior. I FINALLY got it plated yesterday after hassling with passing emissions.

See previous post here: I may be back in a 944 . .

I bought it a few weeks ago, and have been getting it to pass emissions and cleaning it up etc. The previous owner took IMPECCABLE care of it, but then it sat for two years. Rather than do the whole front engine service myself, I had it towed to my trusted Porsche wrench, and had him do the full front engine timing belt/balance belt etc. service, and flush the tank and clean the FI system. It also needed a new fuel pump and a feed line from the tank. It runs very very well, and the suspension is very tight, as the previous owner did all the bushings etc a few years back.

I LOVE how these things drive

Here's a few crappy cell-phone pics I took after we pulled it off the flatbed at the shop.

Yeah.....(tongue in cheek) I did all the hard work and he gets all the fun!! (The pictures do not do it justice)

Hey...Happy to see Matilda the Hun back on the road. Looking forward to that "road test" you promised!!

If Barry can post one, maybe he will post my latest project....a 1993 VW Pisant VR6 sporting BMW 318i grillework. Different....At my age, WHY am I still customizing cars?

Something to do............

You're right, the pics really don't do it justice. I detailed the interior and waxed the wheels over the weekend, so it's looking prettier by the day. I think I found the rear knock sound - the rear trans mounts have been flexing too much and hitting metal to metal. Obviously that's next on the parts list.

Can't wait to see that Passat grill. A car geek's work is never done .

It's not really shaved, the front emblem is just not on. I've got it and the gasket, both in good shape - they won't go on until I get the car properly polished and waxed.
