Bone Yard Finds

I took a drive to A-Burlington Used Auto Parts in Shirley, MA. and found a 1980 924 and 1983 944 ready to be picked (well the 924 was under way with the engine missing). The 83 still has the drivetrain although I did take the front timing belt covers. The engine appeared to be well maintained as it had new(ish) rollers, updated water pump and belts.

It retains the complete black interior which includes a pair of decent vinyl seats (seams need re-stitching). The carpeting was quite dirty with little damage but looked like it would come back very nicely. The 83 has the later phone dial wheels; three of them appear to be in really nice shape; one was a little damaged due to the accident.

The car has a really nice manual steering rack although the front suspension parts are pretty much destroyed. Also, the car retains a great rear spoiler that I was almost tempted to take but how much does one guy really need as spares????

Johnny runs the place and he's a super guy as he let me bring tools and I was allowed to pick through the cars as I wished. Anyway, I wanted to spread the word in case there's someone needing early parts.

ha. see if the yard will pull it for you. It's like picking up cash off the floor.

I don't think I can make it this weekend, but may be interested in heading up there the following weekend to see what is left.

If you end up going, can you take a couple pictures of the 924 (I can pm you my cell number so you can text me the pictures) I am in search of a front lower valance in decent shape.

Thanks
