Do I need new motor mounts?

Have some unwanted vibration on initial takeoff. Idles smooth enough, the car is smooth at speed. Its just that initial take take off that it is a little rough. Clutch has very few miles on it, maybe 10k, car is otherwise running well.

What do I look for to see if mounts are shot?

Is this a job that a regular guy can, or should, do? I see instructions on Clark's - how long does it really take?

Hi Don, this s the best I can do for you right now. This will show what a bad engine mount looks like.

951' should have the solid rubber mount (as opposed to the fluid filled)? Try a search here. IIRC there are some measurement/guidelines of sub-frame to engine clearance that indicate if they need replacement from compression.

My other suggestion would be to jack the engine (with a block of wood) and see if the engine mounts separates from the base to see if the rubber has broken loose. Sounds more like what you're describing..
