No sealant, install dry. Wipe the head stud threads down with a light film of oil. I used WD40. Make sure you follow the torque sequence.

One of the two M6 Allen bolts that seal the water passage at the front of the head have a tendency of corroding. This sometimes results in the bolt snapping mid span upon removal which then neccesitates the need for an extractor to remove the piece stuck in the block.

The reason the one bolt corrodes is because the head gasket has a rubberized seal around the water passage section, but the seal doesn't cover the full perimeter of one of the bolts. Take a look at the pic.

I would recommend putting a small amount of high temp RTV on both sides of the head gasket in the corner (upper left in pic) creating a full rubberized seal around that bolt hole.

Levi,

Like TechnoDuck said follow the 3 step torque sequence.
To get the best results------------Let sit for 45 minutes between steps and gently tap the head before and after the step to help "set" the head.

The block surface must be perfectly clean of oil and gasket material. I used acetone.
Clean out the galleys between the cyl and block. I had crud at the bottom of the rear cyl galley. Look carefully.

The scuffed head washers should not move while torquing the new head nuts-per WSM
