Return fuel hose fitting?
Looking at replacing an aging fuel line on my '88 924S. This is the smaller of the two fuel lines. Note that it is currently attached at the manifold with a clamp. Is this the correct attachment or has a female fitting been cut off? Thanks.

Assuming you are referring to the hose clamp on the right side of the picture, where the return hose connects to the fuel regulator... then yes this is correct. The return side is low pressure, the hose clamp is fine.

Have you had Porsche do the recall on the short hose from the pressure regulator?

Not sure about the recall fix. I guess I'll be looking for the white dot on both of my cars. The procedure on the 944S is pretty extensive. If it hasn't been done, I'll definitely be handing it off to the Porsche dealership. Thanks John.

If you click on the Porsche recall and move down to page 2 you will see the new part numbers required to replace old hose.

According to the procedures on the 924S, 944 & 944 Turbo it should be on the fuel pressure regulator bracket. On the 944S, it should be on the fuel rail.

Opening this thread back up for some questions. I got a replacement hose for the return fuel line but to make the compression fitting behind the brake booster is going to really suck. So what I want to do is cut the hard line under the floor pan, remove the segment with the original rubber, replace the cracking hose with the new hose and provided compression fitting. Then splice the repaired segment back to the hard line under the floor pan. This is exactly what the PO had done with the HP send hose.
![]() This shows the routing of both lines looking from drivers side. ![]() This shows both line coming up the firewall. ![]() This shows were the hard lines wrap under the drivers side floor pan. Note the fitting on the larger 10mm fuel supply line. I need to find a fitting just like this except 8mm for the return line. Does anyone here have a source for such an item? Thanks

Most natural gas stores that install gas fireplaces and stoves use the same pipes and make the fittings during installations at homes. If you can't find a source it might be worthwhile to pop your head in a door and talk to the installation guys. Good Luck!

Perhaps. But wouldn't everything they have be American or English sized? Just like I found at Home Depot.

They fabricate the lines and should be able to use their tap & dye sets to cut it the way you want for your 944. Check if there is a machine shop nearby. I live on a farm and it is not unusual to have pieces made to fit some of this old equipment. A lot of irrigation pumps are made in Italy or other parts of Europe where it is impossible to find the OEM. Believe it or not, I've had parts made for a few dollars that would cost a fortune if I had to order them from a manufacturer. True OEM is nice but a running vehicle is even better.

I'm sure they can but I've already purchased the hose from Lindsey Racing. It's part of a hose kit to replace both lines on a 944 which route through the passenger side wheel well. Easy to get to on that car. On the 924S its a real ***** because the hoses are routed behind the brake booster. So I think I've found a fitting on Hose and Fittings dot com that will do exactly what I need it to. Costs like $6 including shipping. We'll see in a couple of days.
