![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Only one thing could fit in a box that small and make that many smiles. So I got a LR 944MAX chip in the mail today and it's just awesome! The car finally has more of a power curve and less of a power plateau. The thing is definitely much more aggresive and sounds just amazing revving feverishly up through the range. The part throttle maps are where the biggest difference is. It feels alot more responsive and has a bit more torque down low. There's no longer that lame stretch of lazy rpms before about 3400. Once it hits about 2000, it's got some pretty strong pull, but what's really cool esp. at WOT is it just keeps building and building. The peak seems to come in at a nice 5000-5800 rpms and doesn't really start runnning out of breath until about 6400-6600. The rev limit is raised to 7000, and it pulls with some usable (in desperate cases) power up to about 6800-6900, but the valvetrain and engine note start feeling and sounding a little pained by then. The higher spark advance just works wonders for the feel and responsiveness of the power curve. Even though the WOT curve only gained about 3-5hp across the board, it feels noticably more powerful, and did I mention the sound? It just sounds viscious now. What's really impressive is the torque curve gained a good 9 to as much as 15 ft.lb. around 2500-3000rpms, which makes daily driving feel much more effortless and the car noticably quicker off the line, esp. at part throttle. Now it doesn't feel like it just dogs out untill about 4000 rpms anymore. The other nice touch is the idle shudder is gone. The idle drops much more gradually near the bottom and settles nicely at the proper speed. For those who are regular customers and get the horsepower talk e-newsletter, they are still 20% off for the rest of January! ![]() Dyno chart from www.maxhpkit.com forums. I think this is the version 6 chart. Version 7 is the one being sold now and just tweeked a little from v.6. LR chips are the same maps as the maxhp chips. ![]() I still have some leaking seals on the balance shaft cover plugs, so it's still sucking a little bit of vacuum and oil mist. Once I square that away, it should improve even more. It's still too soon to get a fuel mileage estimate, but I'll post up once I have an idea.

I got the 91 octane map, which I assume is just the standard. I don't have a source for race gas, nor the cash for it, since this is also my ~300-500 mile/week daily driver.

Installing it is a piece of cake. The only tricky thing is extracting the old chip without bending the pins, since one side always likes to pop out before the other unless you work very slowly. Just pull the DME, fold out the tabs, unsnap the plastic brace where the wires connect the two boards, pop the old chip out, put the new one in being sure the notch is lined up with the notch in the socket, put it all back together, and enjoy. I've noticed my fuel milage has dropped slightly, and takes a bigger hit if I drive it hard alot, but it's all still kind of subjective right now, since my front tires are smaller than stock and they're worn out so the odometer is off.

How would these chips work on a 924S? Hondadustr- is your motor still the stock compression?
From what I have been hearing these chips are really worth the money. I'm planning on resurrecting my red 87 this summer with new clutch, plug wires, coil, catless exhaust, and maybe one of these chips.. should be a lot more fun then.
