What is the meaning of some of the definitions and terms, newbie would like to know
I am relatively a new comer to this forum stuff, would someone help me out and explain some of the terminology, such as bump, does pm mean private message. if some one would give a definition to some of the common terms and abbreviations used I would greatly appreciate it. Thread: What you're in now. A topic on a message forum.
Bump: To put the thread back to the top of the front page (because older threads without replies fall off into subsequent pages). Maximizes visiblity of a thread. This can be good or bad practice depending on the forum itself and its rules. PM: Private Message. +1: Agree greatly. Used to say a lot without typing a lot. Crossposting: Copying your post into multiple forums to get more exposure. NOT RECOMMENDED. Usually infuriates moderators. Moderators (Mods): Those in charge of keeping the forums tidy. Trolls: Those who post with only the intention of creating trouble. IGNORE THEM. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS. Those are the most common ones that I can come up with. |
