				 | Valve question
I'm rebuilding my 87 and was wondering about the valves. If you replace the valves do you have to replace the lifters and springs as well? Thanks in advance.

The springs and vlaves do not need to be replaced, if you are just replacing the valves (with stock valves). Lifters only need to be replaced if they will no longer "pump up" and are creating alot of lifter noise. The springs should be replaced if they are no longer "square" are way below compression specification, or of course are broken. NOTE!! If the springs are replaced, you need to check the lift height of the valve with the new spring to make sure you don't need to change the shims under the vlave springs! If the springs jam before the cam pushes the valve all the way open, you will destroy the lifter, cam, guide.... Lets just say it's not good -Nick

Get the stem seals replaced that is a must. If you bent any valves then most likely you'll need new guides as well...

Good input guys, I'm getting new valve guides and I got the LR rebuild kit which I'm pretty sure comes with new stem seals.

Ok same topic new questions, I got new valve guides and wondering if I should install them myself and if there's a guide to do so, Clarks-garage didn't seem to have anything. Any ideas are welcome.

I think there's some articles about installing valve guides in the 911 Rebuilding Forum but you're probably better off just paying someone to do it.
