is my car "lowered"???

A few months ago, someone else who has a 944, saw my car and asked if I lowered the car because they thought it looked, well, low. I had just bought it and it wasn't lowered to my knowledge, so I said "No" and haven't really thought of it again, until yesterday. I was out on a drive and heard rubbing from the front tire. Then I heard it again. Turns out, when I hit a dip in the road, or pull into a driveway where there's a suddon change in slope of the road, the front passenger tire rubs on the back side of the wheel well. The tires are size 225/60 R15 on the stock cookie cutters.
So my quetsions are:

- Are those tires the right size?
- Is there a way to determine if the car has been lowered?
- Could the rubbing just be a sign that i need new springs or shocks?
- Other than the annoying noise when the tire rubs the inside of the wheel well, is this anything to be concerned about?

Here's a pic...let me know if the car appears to riding at the stock height.

Sorry for the stupid Newb questions.

By the looks from the pic it looks to be about the same height as mine. But I don't know if mine was lowered either... lol... I did replace the front struts, but not the springs. I do not have any rubbing like you stated.

Check your wheel well. There is a plastic insert in the wheel house. The entire inside wheel house is the black plastic. I have had mine out before. It could be possible that this is not up tight or some screws may be missing.

If your car is an 88 like your signature says, I don't think those are the stock wheels. I'm pretty sure Cookie Cutters are early offset, meaning the outside edges of your tires are pushed closer to the fender lips. Your car should run the late offset.
Plus you have a 60 series tire in 225 width to make it worse.
These together would definitley make it rub.

From the pic, it looks like the tires stick out past the fenders, should look more like mine, though I only have 215/60 series.

I agree, those wheels have the wrong offset for an '88 944.

hmm... so what i'm hearing is... wrong wheel, and to make it worse, wrong tire.
now besides rubbing, is there anything else that i should be aware of by having the wrong offset wheel? i guess i should look for some new wheels. i've always liked the turbo twist wheels (i think they're off the boxter, i could be wrong about that). will those fit? and is there a chart somewhere that shows what wheels work with what cars?
i went to clarks garage, but the "wheels" page is under construction.

I'm no expert, but I was just suggesting wrong wheel, wrong tire together.

If you had 225/50 or 215/50, the cookies might be alright. I've heard some people roll the inside of the fender lip to allow for clearance.

If you had correct offset wheel, the 225/60 would be perfectly fine.

yep as stated those tires look a little big. turbo twists came from a 911, but just about anything would work on your late offset.
btw what size tire are you running now.

they're BF Goodrich G-Force something or other 225/60 R15. And unfortunately, or fortunately (depending how you look at it) they're brand new. The PO put them on before I go the car. Probably not even 200 miles on them.
I think I'll just leave them, unless it gets to be a big problem. I guess the occasional rub I can live with.
