Ok guys
See if you agree with me. There are 38K miles on a 2006 Vehicle. New car warranty covers bumper to bumper except wear items... tires brake pads and such... unless there is deemed to be a defect. Ok so... warped front rotors. There is approximately of 1/4" of brake pad still left on all 4 pads of the front brake system. Yet they are telling me the pads are worn down and this is what caused the rotors to warp... thus not covered under the warranty. I think it is a crock. If there is that much material left (likely another 10K miles of driving) that the rotors had to have been bad to have warped. No?

Sounds like a crock to me....and like an experience I had with my 2006 Explorer Sport Track, and I won. They bought me new ties in my case.

I did not see them but they have that split grove down the middle... and you can still see some of the split between the front and rear surfaces.

is there actual warpage of the rotors? or are u just feeling the unevenness in the pedal? did u bed in the pads after u bought the car? or when the brakes last got serviced? it could just be uneven material transferred onto the disc. that can be somewhat resolved with bedding in a new set of more abrasive pads....but only if its minor.

Well the car shakes and booms like a wet retriever when slowing down from highway speeds.
Thus... I would say they are warped.

I have worked on cars for 30 years and I have never seen rotors warp from worn pads. I have seen them wear down so far the rotor actuallly shattered. Only from overheat. It can be intentional (racing, riding the brakes, etc.) but more often than not it's mechanical failure. I have had it happen on one side before from a stuck brake caliper piston. But both? At the same time? Never seen it. So it's either been abused (I am just saying it) or you have a defective brake system, probably the release valve that let's fluid return to the master cylinder, but that's just a SWAG. I agree with the others, something stinks here and it isn't the pads. The warped rotors are a result of a problem, not the core problem. Good luck and let us know.
