Seat forward/back handle busted off!

The drivers seat forward/back adjustment handle busted off right at the plastic handle! I stuck a screwdriver in the rod and was able to turn it to get it back to my position but also broke/cracked the rod in the process. The metal used for the small rod looks too thin to weld so wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there's any easy temporary fix?

the drivers seat is electric but forward/back is with the lever. Am i able to get the seat off and replace this handle/lever/rod?
