Question about interior trim

Hi there, I have an 86 944. Have started to fix the little interior trim pieces, along with just recently replacing the steering rack, fuel filter and a few other things. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what the trim piece in the trunk area is called. It should cover just below where the rear hatch meets the car on the inside. Currently I see the cutouts which have allowed me to easily remove dents, but i would like to be able to replace the missing trim if possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can you get a picture of the area you speak of? Your description is vague at best.

here is an image,

but it is not of my car. Seeing this makes me wonder if I really am missing a trim piece. I am talking about the area between the gasket and the carpet (towards the left hand side of the photo).

Are you talking about the red slotted metal? I see no other piece that could be what you speak of.

I believe those are the flow through ventilation vents to keep the rear window cleared. The owners manual suggests turning on the rear window defroster to thaw the ice/frost then turn it off once clear and allow the flow through ventilation to maintain visibility.

The red slotted metal is just part of the body it served no purpose. The defrost is the little lines on the window..,.,
