Recommended place to buy a 944 water pump??
Hello,
Wondering if anyone can make a recommendation on where to buy a water pump for my 944 at a good price? Rebuilt will be fine. Or, maybe someone might have an extra one sitting on their garage shelf that they would like to sell??? ![]() |

Never bought a waterpump but everything else Pelican sells is top notch.

Thanks for the input everyone! I checked here on Pelican Parts before I even made this post. The new pumps are too expensive for me........so I don't want to spend that. The rebuilt ones are priced very well, but they don't seem to carry the one for my car WITH the cam belt guard. I didn't think anyone was even using the original pumps anymore without the guard! I would think it'd be too risky!!

bxtech, it would be helpful to the rest of us if you would add your car to your signature line.
As far as your pump goes, I've never tried a rebuilt and have heard some mixed reviews about their quality. That being said, if you're doing your own wrenching and are willing to risk having to replace the rebuilt part sooner than you would with a new unit, go for it.

I wouldn't buy a rebuilt pump. I got a new pump (updated) from eBay for $230, as it happened to be stock from a closing shop. I've never used a rebuilt pump, so I can't speak for their quality or longevity. I'd use a rebuilt on an '89 Supra or similar, because it won't harm anything else when it fails and it only takes...MAYBE 30 minutes to replace. On a 944, where it can destroy the timing belt and takes hours to replace...I would never trust a rebuilt.

944online.com I brought timing belt kit and waterpump kit for roughly 500 bucks. If I remeber correctly the pump was about 300, but you should check for yourself.
