944n/a in a 951 ?

I was thinking of putting a 944N/A motor in a 951 (which has a blown motor). What kind of crazy stuff would I have to do for this to be successful ? I do have a ECU for the N/A motor...what else do I need to consider ?

Please...constructive replies only, thanks

Not a bad swap actually. You would need to the entire wire harness and DME from the n/a. and of course the full exhaust from the n/a. The transmission is debatable, the longer gearing of the 951 trans will make the already anemic 8v n/a feel even slower. The radiator is different aswell, however you can keep the 951 radiator in there and just block off the extra fitting for the turbo waterpipe.

Another thing i just thought of is the expansion tank is different, but the extra fitting can be blocked off also.

Hi, why not just put in a good running 951 motor to repalce the blown one? They are around and not too terribly expensive.

put the n/a motor in w/ the turbo components- sure it'll run alittle better..higher compression.

I think you need the lower compression to run a turbo...

You could get an N/A engine and build it up with some lower compression pistons.
Depending on what is wrong with the turbo one, you could probably get a good used N/A as a core, then swap parts and have a nice fresh engine... depends what what's wrong with the turbo engine tho.

9.5:1 isn't really all that bad with a turbo, especially with today's higher quality gas.

Skytrooper,

Does not have a motor or transmission? So, do you just have the shell with no 951 motor or transmission? Has anything else been stripped out? Pics of engine bay & what you have to work with (engine, trans., etc...) would be great. You are leaving a lot of variables open. Is this going to be a DD, track car, weekend ride around? You need to give us more info to work with to stay away from the "crazy stuff".
