OPRV/Oil Filter unit reinstallation

Hey guys,

Trying to reassemble my motor and I don't really understand the OPRV/Oil Filter/External oil cooler assembly. Right now I'm trying to get the old oil filter housing mated to my new block.

The old block has these two parts sticking out of it that were between the housing and the block, two little sleeves.

My question is simple: What are these? Can I just force them out? They seem stuck in there. I can't seem to find them on diagrams.

im not quite sure what you dont understand about it but, one is a inlet the other is outlet. theres a small metal "cooler" that sits inside the housing and cools the oil as it passes through. look at the online parts catalog "PET" under engine-lubrication.

Well:

1) I can't get those little metal sleeves out of the old motor
2) Those little sleeves aren't on the new motor
3) I can't find those sleeves in the parts catalog

I've attached a pic of the new block where you can see those sleeves aren't there.

Also, mine has an external oil cooler - so all those diagrams don't look quite right when I look at what I see on my housing.

Are the motors from the same year, or are they different years?
