Audi Transaxle Query
The basic question is, are all 924/944 Audi-based trannies interchangable. I know there turbo-only gear ratios, etc, but the question is whether mounting holes are the same. . .in other words, can the early "wings" mounting setup be removed, and replaced with the "hanging from one bolt" setup used in later 944s.
I am contemplating deleting the tranny x-member from my 924S, and replacing it with the removable unit. This will be to accomodate a later plastic fuel tank.
