1985 944 no spark, no tach movement

Hello, I need some help. I have a no spark, and no tach movement while cranking. I have fuel pressure, and compression is good. By looking at the other threads seems like I have a speed and reference sensor issue, what should my next step be? Thanks so much (:

Give the sensor connectors a jiggle, the harness connectors on both ends can be problematic.

Also insure the gap of the sensors is correct.. but this is likely not a problem unless they were moved around due to other work performed on the car.

Yeah, most likely it is the speed/ reference sensors. Go here http://www.clarks-garage.com/ this is a must have (along with Pelican) has pretty much anything you need to fix the cars. Once your there, go to "Grage Shop Manual" left side of the page, Then click on "S" for speed and reference replacement/ adjustment/ clearance or scroll down the speed and refernce page. You dont really need to remove the manifold, but to get to the bolts, you will need a big socket extension ( 1 foot or so will do). DO NOT DROP ANYTHING!!!!!! It can fall into the bellhousing, there are a few holes that are in that area. Im going through this now, you dont want to, trust me.

Speed/ref sensors. I recently went through something like that. Check the obvious stuff first - harness & connections, continuity at the DME plug, etc.

Check spark at coil, noid light on injector plug....if neither the first thing i would replace is the sensors, if you have either of them then its not the sensors. Btw you can use bmw 5 series sensors as a replacement...they are half the money

I cast a dissenting vote for DME relay.

I agree with George, put the 'Y' cable from Clarks in the socket and see if it doesn't run.
