Heater core/gas tank removal
Does anyone know how to remove the heater core?
Also to remove the gas tank on a 1987 924s do you really ave to remove the transaxle and rear window(as stated by the haynes manual) to get it out? Thanks |

To remove the gas tank, you have to remove the transaxle first. Don't know about the window, but the haynes manual should be used for wiping your butt.

![]() I did not remove my passenger rear side glass. Now for the heater core, I present the BEST writeup I have seen by Mr. SolReaver: 87 924S heater core GL John_AZ 1988 924S + 1987 924S |

That's a great write-up on the heater core; saving the link.
No wonder I still get some airflow with working flaps and flaps in closed position. It's a wonder that any 944's flaps seal properly. There's no way foam strips will be good after 20 or so years in this application.

I replaced my heater core becausei replaced all of the Hoses as well. Major PITA. BUt it was kinda a good learning expierence to know what wires go where and what gets conected to what. The write up showing rebuilding the flaps is a good idea. makes me wonder if i did it too... BTW when i was working my car stayed without its dash for like a month. BUt i was also replacing the timing belts.....GOOD TIMES
