weird steering problem
I had the 44' on jack stands today to bleed brakes, and get the clutch bled right. Since i had her up on the stands i started to mess around with the steering wheel to see where a squeek was coming from. needless to say i was pretty shocked to see that when i turned the wheel the drivers side strut tower washer/bolt thing would move with steering wheel, almost a perfect 1:1!!
I really don't see it being anything that bad, as i mostly drive her a few miles work. What do you guys think it could be? |
Both of mine do that, exactly the way you described it. (1:1) Discovered that while I had the front end up in the air bleeding the power steering system.
Was shocked initially, as you were, but assumed that was normal, since both sides were turning like that. I sure hope it's normal!!! " " Randy |
Shouldn't the whole strut assembly turn when you turn the wheel?
That's how it was on my GTi, anyway... C. |

That's perfectly normal--strut suspensions typically use the upper mount as the rotation point for the steering. |
