Oil Pressure Question

I have an 87 944 NA. When the ignition key is turned on the oil pressure gauge reads 5. It does this when I turn the key to accessories and the car is not even running. Would this be the oil pressure sender or the gauge?

One more question

Is the Gauge cluster on and 86 and 87 944 NA the same?

Thanks

probably your sender. check to make sure it's properly grounded. also make sure that the wire is actually connected and has a good connection

I've got an 87 S and mine was doing the same thing. I replaced the sender and it's working fine now.
