How do you replace the check valve

Again, how do you replace the check valve in an early 944 fuel pump. I suspect it may be defective

Thanks

The check valve for the fuel pump is screwed on the outlet side of the fuel pump. One needs to access the fuel pump by unbolting the skid plate/fuel pump cover. Once you have the fuel pump in sight pinch off the fuel hose coming from the gas tank (Otherwise one will spill allot of gas). The fittings are high pressure on the front of the fuel pump and are all screwed together. Remove the fuel line to the outlet side of the check valve, unscrew/remove the check valve and replace.

Have pfunn

^CCK is correct on location but the check valve is a simple steel ball inside a brass tube. Take it out and rinse it with brake cleaner or similiar and put it back. The check valves purpose is to keep the fuel line "full" until you turn the key again and the fuel pump does not have to fill empty fuel lines.

Things to check OR replace are: Fuel filter, Tank fuel Screen or FPR or damper.

Time to check for a leaky injector. You could send them to www.witchhunter.com or get hats and seals for a DIY. Here is a Pelican DIY from our tech section above ^.
