will a late head bolt up to an early block? (and a couple other Q's)
After my rather off the wall engine failure, I'm poking around for a short block. The only thing I'm not sure of is if the head off my 87 924S will bolt up fine to an early block. Also, will my late oil pan fit ok as well?
Does anyone have any idea what it typicaly costs to have valve guides replaced, valve seats cut, and the head shaved?

I think I paid about 300 or so a while back to have my 16V head milled.

When I did my HG a couple of years ago the cost was $200. A few guys paid about $160 and the high price was about $300 like Charles said above. I called about 5 shops and the moment you say Porsche they either say "sorry, no" or the price was high.
The head is a very simple 4 cyl head with a 3 angle valve cut. There is nothing special. I like the work of many944s-nick. He does the check for cracks and other quality work. http://www.benms.com/944head.html GL John_AZ 1988 924S + 1987 924S |

I'm wanting to do this the other way round - will a pre 85.5 cylinder head fit a late 86 main block and cam shaft + casing?
