1976 Rad Fan not working
So it has been a while. As you know I am working on a 1983 944 that won't start. However I also have a 1976 924. The car has been a great runner, and with the Euro motor it will keep up with a lot of other cars on the track. However, earlier this year the Rad Fan has stopped working. Looking at the parts here on Pelican I am wondering if it could be either of the following pieces.
Auxiliary fan Switch or Auxiliary Fan Relay. All the wires going to the fan look good, no breaks in the wires or anything like that. It did work the last time I was on the track, so I am wondering if anyone has had similar issues and a quick fix or tow. Regards and thanks for any help. |

To eliminate the Aux Fan Switch as a problem, just remove the connector and jumper them together. The fan should start when you turn on the ignition. If it doesn't, it is either the relay or the fan itself.

Well we got the Rad Fan working again.
Turns out it was the connection to the Auxiliary Fan Switch. I removed the rubber cover and the wire was still stuck in that cover. So after working the wire out and then using some pliers I made the wire stick on the prong correctly. I had to use the pliers to get it on the prong so that it would not come off. After that I started the car and let it come up to temp. When it came to temp the fan started spinning. So situation fixed. Now we can get back to the track with the old 924. Thank you George for the place to start looking. Mike Kirby |
