fixing it - trying to that is!

Hey, well it finally dried up enough to start stripping the engine today following the belt tensioner eating itself and the belts. Got everything down to the camshaft cover off without any problems however have a few observations and appreciate any feedback. Have searched and read loads of threads (all incredibly helpful) all night but you know what its like - nothing better than a direct answer.

1. on taking off the intake manifold there was a considerable (maybe 50 -100ml) amount of oil came out the bigger hose hole.

Also worth noting that there is the same maybe more in the lower air filter element casing (1/3 of a can of coke!!). As I did not remove this its hard to see where the oil came from. I read that the cars 'burp'? but this seems a lot - mileage is 245K though!!!!!

2. I am planning to change the head as expect the valves to be wrecked, I have been offered one from a lower mileage 85 (assuming non oval dash) 944. Will this match up with my main block AND cam shaft housing??

Cheers!

just found this thread which sort of answers my own question as I also have oil on no1 valve inlet but nobody mentions the oil in the manifold,

Oil in intake still (new AOS seals)
