Help with crankshaft pully

is there a trick to center the power steering pulley on the crank?

No trick unless the center is messed up.

shouldn't be hard as long as you take off all the accessory belts first. that's how you mess up the center, by the way.

does it go on the snout of the crank because my crank doesn't hang out past the balance belt pulley

Do you have the right crank? The crank snout on the manual steering cars doesn't have a shoulder for a PS pulley

How do you mean? The power steering pulley is the last attachment to go on.

I don't believe it was the result of anything I did to make it so uneven on the inside. I think it was more wear and tear from the PS mount's broken bolts and skewed installation (due to the previous owner's collision) than anything I could have done. That's why I asked the question above. I don't think *I* did anything to make that happen.

It should come off fairly easy though. sometimes, a little tug or tap was needed, but never a lot of force.

well the block is an 1983. they didnt have power steering till 85 1/2 right?

I believe some 83 cars had power steering as an option and all 84 and up had power steering.
