928 Head's - What is th e story

With the price of fixing a cylinder head being expensive, I was curious about 928 heads. Can anyone some up their use in a sentance or so? Are they best used with 2.5, or 2.7 if they can be used.

Thanks

Here's a sentence:

"Junkyards are full of rebuildable 2.5 heads for next to nothing!"

+1 to that.

The "best" head totally depends on the application. 16v heads are great if you want upper-end power. 8v heads are actually better for low-end torque (such as with forced induction setups). This has been discussed ad nauseum on the 951 forums here and elsewhere.

There are a handful of 16v, 3.0L turbos running around that make insane power including great high-end power, but they're absurdly expensive to build properly (think turbo 968 engine expensive).

The standard 8v 951 head with a few minor modifications is quite good and can handle quite a lot of flow and make quite a lot of power.
