Door handle lever replacement?
I have always heard if you had a exterior door handle with the lever broken off the only way to replace it was by replacing the whole handle but recently someone told me they thought they saw the replacement handle levers for sale.
Has anyone else seen them or is it even possible to replace just the lever only?

It's been a while since I've taken one of those apart, but yeah, I think you can dissassemble it and replace just the lever.
But when I had to replace mine (on a couple cars) I was able to find the whole hadle assembly for (if I remember correctly) under $25, so at least for me, that was easier. Seems there's always someone parting a car out...

Swapping door handles on the late cars is such a pain that I decided to just stick a new one in so I don't have to do that again. I doubt I'll own the car long enough to wear out another handle.

i've had the cam on the inside of the handle break a couple times and they are replaceable...check out ebay or the dealer for the part if that's what's busted. you'll have to remove the handle to figure out what you need. here's a pic...

Can you handle it?
You really don't know what is broken until you get it apart. I suggest Taping up the door a bit to keep from scratching the paint on re assembly. If the handle itself is broken, it can be a pain as the lock cylinder will have to be swapped as well.

For those who have tried, can the trigger lever be removed from a handle assembly, one that is damaged but the trigger itself is still good, and be replaced in another handle? Also, would it matter if the trigger came out of a driver or passenger side unit?

You are better off to just replace the whole handle. You are likely to destroy the handle itself trying to get the pin out.
