944 auto 84 torque tube stuck

I am stripping an 84 944 automatic. I am having a real issue with the torque tube NOT wanting to come out from the bellhousing. It will move back about 1/4-1/2 inch and then, boom, nothing. I have removed every nut and bolt less the bellhousing that I can find. Am I missing something?? Is there another way?
Need to free the engine from the tube. Have removed them many times from standard clutch 944 but never automatic.
Note: I have removed the engine and torque tube as one piece from the car ( yeh it was not easy )
thanks

Take out the bolts on the clywheel damper. There is a clip on the end of the drive shaft that won't allow the torque tube to come out of the damper.

George

The link on your front page-clutch replacement does not work for me.
I use your home page as a reference.

Sorry, I'll have to remove the link. My ISP changed and I can't host that link anymore.

If you need a copy of the 944 Turbo Clutch procedure, send me an email and I will email it back.

Remove the hex bolt from the collar at the front of the torque tube, then slide the collar towards the back of the tube. When you do that, you will then have access to the clip, which is captive with another small collar.
