EMERGENCY!! Need a trans-axle ASAP!!
Big Problem.
The Ring and Pinion just left me. Seven teeth are off and floating through the transmission somewhere. The car is a 1984 944. The gearbox was a normal 5-speed with the lame fifth and open diff. I'd love to buy a box with a shorter 5th and LSD. Does anyone either have one or place that sells rebuilds? I'll pay shipping and top dollar. I just need the damn thing. The problem is I have to have the car ready for the Glen by next weekend. ![]() ![]() Last edited by thewerxracing; 09-05-2009 at 06:03 PM.. |

I've got an 85 lsd, but I'm too far away to get it there by Friday even. The glen is an awesome track and I miss it!

I've got a couple of those chunks sitting on my desk as well.
Good luck, and don't accept anything other than a short 5th tranny! The gearing is so much better.

I've got one from a '87 924S in Wellsboro, PA. The 924S was a parts car with a bad engine, haven't even checked the fluid, but it is available if you want to check it out.

I just installed one from Cog's Cogs. The price was right and he got the tranny to me in 1 day. I got a used one with a 90 day warranty, but he does do rebuilds. Definately someone to trust.

I Just picked up George's trans from his neighbor yesterday. It has the short gearing and LSD. Perfect!
I'm waiting on the short shift kit from ********** now. Hopfully it'll be there when I get home from work. Now- with the LSD in her, does Redline 75w90NS sound okay? Oh- And thanks for everyone's help- you guys are awesome! |

Paragon and others say this about Redline 75w90NS:
75W90NS Gear Oil - recommended for manual transmissions and non-limited-slip transaxles that recommend 90 WT oils. Can be used in racing limited-slip units to increase lockup and reduce wheel spin. Street-driven rear-wheel drive cars should use regular Red Line 75W90 or 80W140. From: http://www.*****************.com/product_p/rl_transfluid.htm Since you race should be OK. For nonrace applications of LSD, Many owners & Bennington Motorsports www.benms.com (many944s) prefer to use Swepco 201 which our sponsor Pelican sells. Suggestion for Manual Trans Fluid?
