Partial Seat Recover Possible?

The seats on my 85.5 are the type with beige "leather look" vinyl with fabric middle sections. The vinyl is perfect, but the fabric, although not torn, is stained and looks pretty ugly. The car's interior is great otherwise (no dash cracks, etc.) - so the stained fabric sticks out like a sore thumb.

Question: is there a relatively simple (and inexpensive) way to either replace the fabric or perhaps glue new fabric over the old? Ideally, there would be some product available, like a fabric with a "peel and stick" backing - either precut or which I could cut to the correct shape myself. Any ideas about this? Thanks!

I have no idea about the kind of fabric you're looking for but have you tried cleaning them? I have the black leather/fabric seats but with the center being more of a grayish, stains show up easily. I used the upholstry attatchments that came with a rented rug dr. for the house and did my entire car in a couple hours pretty well. Besides the normal fading, the interior looks new now. I had some pretty nasty stains from the PO that took a little work but eventually came out. Just an idea.

If your fabric is not torn, take the advice from VII and clean. There are many varieties of upholstery cleaner from gentle to harsh. Have you thought of using a dye to closely match the original color.

If your car had the Porsche script seat material it is NLA or a blackmail price.

EBay has a vendor that sells the beige German vinyl covers for $270/pair.
Leather starts at $550 and UP

Peel and stick is not an option as the IN & OUT will start to roll the fabric. Iron ON would do the same.

Your interior sounds well taken cared for.
