Front spring help
 
Are 8" springs too short for my '84 using stock spring perches? I know they'll work with the adjustable perches.

what spring rate?

I had done some calculations before and figured with a 8" 350 lb springs would be like a 3" drop from stock.

yes def too short..need adjustable perches. i may have a set of springs that are 12inch long - spring rate of 200lb. if need them i will let them go cheap. used them for one season with stock rear torsion bars..

i think i have a pair of 10" 350# eibach springs lying around here that have about 10 hours on them

Thanks. The 12x200lb would be better than my stock, but I'm planning to put in some 29mm t-bars so I'll need to match the spring rate in the front. From what I've researched it should be about 300lb to be balanced. I'd go with a 30mm tbar, but the price difference is over $100 from a VW 29mm.

I might be interested in the 350lb though, it would push a little but that's better than snap oversteer I guess. Let me know what you want for them.

300 is way too soft for 29mm t-bars. See spring rate table here: http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index.php?article=39

400 or 425 would be a more appropriate match.

am I doin it wrong? Your chart and others I've seen say 29mm Tbar = 292lbs effective rate. So 300lb would be a close balance.
Most of the 944Spec folks use 30mm tbar with 350lb front.

Pasha recommends setups in his oft-referenced suspension prep article that are 30-40% stiffer in the front. Makes sense to me. . .seems like most of the body roll is up front.

However, there is certainly nothing wrong with listening to people with track experience and making a decsion you are comfortable with. . .and the beauty is sleeve-type springs are cheap and easy to swap around.
