Short Shifter

Anyone try one of these?
Porsche 944 951 924S turbo Short Shifter Shift 944S 968:eBay Motors (item 110438625834 end time Oct-01-09 17:22:21 PDT)

Seems kind of high anyways but was wondering if it was any good or not.

I saved $160 and ground mine down with a grinder by a couple inches. A new knob went on fine and it works well. I never tried a short shift kit but cutting your own is an alternative.

I have one that goes on the gearbox, less expensive than that. Works great, makes a HUGE difference. . .one of those "factory should have done it" upgrades.

Was the one that installs on the gear box difficult to do?

Nope, but the box was on the ground! Seriously, though, it shouldn't be too hard. You need a 10, 13 & 17, wire cutters, loctite and safety wire. No more than an hour job, IMO.

I just did the same with the transaxle installed, and it also only took about 1 hour. Very easy to do - just make sure you install safety wire!

Theres a hole in the lockbolt that holds the shifter tube to the gear box that you can put safety wire through so the bolt won't come undone while you're driving! I just had to clip mine off. I'm not sure how to put it back on when I put the transmission back in the car. I guess I'll figure it out! Or someone on here will answer in like 20 minutes. LoL

Through bolt "G". . .if there is no hole through the head, you may not have the factory part.

Hmmm... I do have that bolt laying around here somewhere. That one was throw in to get the linkage sorted out.
