1988 944 Automatic?
I am looking at one with an automatic for my Daughter, how are the auto's in these cars? pretty reliable or not?

She will love the attention. Great commuter car. Low power from start.
You will hate the repair of the automatic flex disc. Part alone is about $1200. and labor. Very common now on 20 year old car. GL John_AZ |

Can you tell if its going bad while driving it or is this something that I should really plan on replacing soon regardless?

Quite a few say every 80K to 110K miles or 20 years whichever comes first.

My 1984 994 automatic has 128,000 miles. No transmission problems....so far. Everyones right about the flex disc. My car was exactly 20 years old with 109,000 miles when it just "let go". Above all...don't buy a used disc and don't let all this scare you outta getting the car. You and your daughter are gonna love it!
