Porsche Crest Transmission Fluid

I was looking in my Haynes manual for changing my transmission fluid and in there it does show where to drain it from but then I can't see any place to refill it. In a normal engine compartment you see the oil fill, dipstick, tranny dipstick/fill, but on this where do I refill the tranny fluid since the book was very vague.

Also where is the odometer gearing located?

The transmission?

In the rear of the car.

If you use the "signature" feature in your User Control Panel to add your vehicle information (year & model), you will get faster and more accurate answers.

Is this car an auto? If manual, there are two identical plugs on the dirver's side of the gearbox, the lower drains and the upper fills. Word to the wise, don't remove the drain plug until you have loosened the fill plug. . .sometimes they get uber stuck.

The fill plug is above the drain plug. Make sure you can get the fill plug out before you drain the fluid out. The fill plug is harder for some reason to turn sometimes. Maybe too much armstrong used on it.
The speedometer sender is located on the left, driver, side above and just forward of the CV axle on the trans.

Cheers,
Larry

Or, on early cars, the speedo drives off the LH front wheel hub.

transmission

The car is an automatic and I putting it on lift tomorrow. The fill is right above the drain, that doesn't leave a whole lot of room under there to fill but I will look when it is up on the lift...right now I have an oil leak to find since it is dripping and blowing on the exhaust as I go down the road, not a lot of leak but it is still a leak.

On the oil leak. Wipe down the cam housing real good and in back of it. On the back of it is a cover that has a cork gasket that is prone to leak if it is over torqued. It only requires 6 lbs of torque. The oil drips right down on the exhaust.

Cheers,
Larry
