Koni front inserts...externally adjustable?
I installed my new Bilsteins, and found I already had Koni adjustable inserts in my '84 NA. ??? Part number is 944-343-059-00.
They only have the Allen hex on the top of the shaft, so I didn't think they were adjustable. With them out of the car I can bottom them out by hand and then turn them for adjustment. So how are they externally adjustable? Would I have to remove the bump stops, jack the wheel all the way up, loosen the strut lock nut and turn the shaft with an allen socket?? I'm confused. ![]()

The M474 option was for the Koni shocks but they arent the standard "knob on top" type. They are adjustable but as you can see its high on the PITA list.

FWIW, there is a source (Can't find it now) that sells a rod that can be used to adjust those type of struts while still on the car.
You take the nut off, screw this rod on, and then you can compress the piston and make your changes. Pull the piston back up, put the nut back on, and you are good to go. Not as simple as the externally adjustable types, but it is a solution for stock M474. Cheers, Keith
